Lamothe Law Firm Files Multiple Lawsuits Pursuant to Child Sex Abuse Lookback Window

by Julien G. Lamothe

Lamothe Law Firm has recently filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of many survivors of child sex abuse pursuant to the upheld Lookback Window statute that allows survivors of childhood sexual abuse to seek justice.

The lawsuits that were filed involve decades old claims of child sex abuse against a variety of religious organizations and governmental/educational institutions, including the Diocese of Baton Rouge, Diocese of Lafayette, Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, parish school boards, and the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services.

The lawsuits were filed days before the original Lookback Window deadline of June 14, 2024. However, the Louisiana Legislature recently extended the Lookback Window deadline an additional three (3) years to June of 2027, giving survivors of childhood sexual abuse more time to seek justice and hold those who perpetuated the abuse accountable.

If you or someone you love was sexually abused as a child by an employee of a church, healthcare provider, sports team, or school, please contact Lamothe Law Firm today for a confidential consultation to discuss your situation.
