Lamothe Law Firm Attends Archdiocese of New Orleans Bankruptcy Hearing

by Frank E. Lamothe, III

On behalf of our abuse survivor clients, Lamothe Law Firm attended the hearing on June 18, 2020 in the Archdiocese of New Orleans bankruptcy proceeding.

Here are some highlights of that hearing: The Application to employ Jones Walker LLP as attorneys for the Debtor was granted. The Application to employ Donlin Recano as the Claims, Noticing and Solicitation Agent for the Debtor was granted. The application to employ Blank Rome LLP as Special Insurance Counsel for the Debtor and Debtor was granted. The final cash collateral order was granted, with the committee reserving the right to contest certain matters related to the liens at a later date. The Debtor’s request for authority to sell certain property located in Kenner was postponed to another date.

There was no action at this hearing regarding the final deadline or “bar date” by which claims must be filed. Anyone who does not file their claim prior to this bar date risks forever losing their right to compensation.

If you believe you or someone you know may have a claim for child abuse against the Catholic Church, even if that claim was many years ago, please contact Lamothe Law Firm for a free consultation. We have represented many survivors in lawsuits against the Archdiocese of New Orleans and negotiated many significant settlements.
