Frank Lamothe: The settlement has been six years in the making

by Frank E. Lamothe, III

“‘I still think it’s unfair:’ Clergy sex abuse victim says settlement falls short, calls for more accountability”
written by Andrew Epperson, Louisiana First News

“Hundreds of child sex abuse victims who said the Catholic Church protected their abusers may be one step closer to some semblance of justice after a settlement was agreed to last month. A lawyer representing one victim said there is still a long road ahead, and the victim said no amount of money will ever be enough.”

“The settlement has been six years in the making, said Frank Lamothe, a lawyer who represents some of the victims. He said the Catholic Church has paid millions in fees, which he said should have gone to victims. He said the situation is further complicated by parishes and charities linked to the Archdiocese of New Orleans filing for bankruptcy.”
