Building Bridges Across Continents: ABOTA in Argentina
Frank Lamothe and 250 other legal professionals converged in Buenos Aires last week for a historic, two-day seminar on civil jury trials. Co-organized by the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the Argentine Association of Trial by Jury (AAJJ), the event aimed to promote the jury system, which is only actively used in one Argentine province despite constitutional allowance.
The unprecedented exchange brought together American and Argentine judges, lawyers, and scholars. Participants explored topics like the efficacy of the jury system, case framing techniques, practical litigation issues, and jury selection. Featured speakers included Argentine Supreme Court Justice Carlos Rosenkrantz and former U.S. Ambassador and Judge Edward C. Prado, fostering significant collaboration and cultural understanding between the two legal communities.
A believer in supporting the development of the next generation of lawyers, Mr. Lamothe has collaborated with ABOTA programs throughout the world to help increase the advocacy skills of trial lawyers. Frank Lamothe has been an Invited Member of ABOTA for many years, and is also a National Board Member.
