in 2019, the Maryland Attorney General’s office began investigating the Baltimore Catholic Archdiocese and has discovered the sexual abuse of over 600 children over 80 years: Baltimore Catholic Archdiocese Covered Up Sexual Abuse, Probe Finds, reported by Brian Bushard, Forbes Magazine.

According to the investigation’s report, the Baltimore Archdiocese never reported the sexual abuse allegations or removed those accused of abuse. Now, 152 priests are listed as having been accused of child sexual abuse. One Maryland Catholic parish employed 11 priests over 40 years known to have a history of sexual abuse.

In 2004, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops reported more than 4,000 priests sexually abused more than 10,000 children nationally from 1950 to 2002.
