New Orleans Archdiocese Adds 7 Priests to Abuse List

Archdiocese of New Orleans prepares to add 7 Franciscan priests to their clergy abuse list, article by Ramon Antonio Vargas, Times-Picayune.

Members of the Franciscan Friars chapter recently released a roster of 24 priests and seven religious brothers with “substantiated child sex abuse allegations against them.” Franciscan members were added to the list “if they admitted to claims or were found culpable by a criminal investigation, civil case, or internal investigation,” the order said. Seven of these priests and brothers worked under the New Orleans Archdiocese so now the New Orleans list will include 72 substantiated names of clergy who abused children.

Frank Davied, Alfred Pimple, Ray Chappa, Finbar ”Barry” Coyle, Carter Partee, Juvenal Pfalzer and Randolph Thompson are to be added to the New Orleans Archdiocese list. A statement from the local chapter of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests said, “We are confident that New Orleans’ list remains deficient and will have more names added.”

Since the Archdiocese of New Orleans has filed bankruptcy, clergy abuse survivors must file their claim by March 1, 2021 or risk losing their right to compensation. If you or someone you know endured sexual assault or abuse at the hands of a clergy member at any time, please contact us today so we can help you file your claim.
