Kristi Schubert recently attended a reception for Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro. AG Shapiro has previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and as chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.
As the Attorney General, his office investigated allegations of sexual abuse by the Catholic Church. The resulting grand jury report alleged the sexual abuse of more than 1,000 children perpetrated by over 300 priests. This report has prompted legislation to change the statutes of limitation in Pennsylvania and many other states, so that more child abuse victims can sue the Church as adults.
Ms. Schubert was pleased to invite as her guest Kevin Bourgeois, Leader – New Orleans SNAP Network. Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priest (SNAP)is the support group for women and men abused by religious and institutional authorities.
