On January 25, 2019, father-and-son team Frank and Julien Lamothe of Lamothe Law Firm will begin the Baja XL Road Rally, a 2,500-mile journey along the Baja Peninsula in support of LaFASA! This fundraiser is a first for us and we’re excited to cheer their team – Calliope Racing – on to the finish line!
One of the last remaining grand adventures of its type, the Baja XL includes teams from all over the world who will start in Los Angeles and travel through deserts, canyons, and beaches throughout California and Mexico before returning to L.A. 10-days later. The rally is full of difficulties, dangers, and uncertainties, and it’s both physically and mentally demanding. Frank and Julien will drive between 300 to 400 miles each day through rough and inhospitable terrain, and some days will be 18 hours long on dark, desolate dirt roads with no signage. The race is unsupported, which means there are no rescue trucks, ambulances or medical helicopters, so if a team is injured or breaks down, they’ll need to rely on their own resources.
Calliope Racing has a Facebook page with information about their vehicle, equipment, gear, and progress throughout the rally. We also encourage you to please contribute to their GoFundMe campaign – all proceeds go directly to LaFASA.
