LLF attorney Michelle Cumberland is a board member for an organization called STAIR (Start the Adventure in Reading). STAIR operates 28 tutoring sites with more than 350 volunteers. They serve approximately 220 public elementary schools in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes. Teachers at those schools identify children that are behind in reading and STAIR takes those children into their program to try to catch them up to the reading level of their classmates.
